Couple and family therapy

Couples therapy addresses several problems related to communication, intimacy, poblem solving skills, sexuality and coexistence, with couples from all gender and sexual identities.

During the evaluation period, work is done to clarify the nature of each difficulty and the behaviors of the members, which contribute to keeping the problems present and feeling stagnant. The couple’s weaknesses and strengths are evaluated.

Throughout the course of treatment, couples gain an understanding of why they live repeating conflicts of similar content (money, parenting, shared responsibilities, sex, etc.) or conflicts of similar dynamics (one approaches, the other withdraws; one affirms, the other submits but resents, etc.).

We work on:

    • Communication skills and empathy
    • Raising Consciousness about destructive communication and ecalation
    • Stopping vicious cycles
    • Encouraging mutuality and respect
    • Understanding family dynamics and patterns
    • Encouraging respect among family members Parenting issues/concerns

The main objective of couple and family therapy is to achieve a better understanding of their respective fears and anxieties and to develop the necessary skills to break out of the vicious cycle of miscommunication, discomfort and stagnation in which they find themselves.
